a perfect wedding day

My best friend Karen got married today! They celebrated their love on the beach near Bloemendaal together with friends and family. It was such a beautiful day and so special that they read their own vows to each other. Also Alwin's outfit was very special, he wore the woolen waistcoat that his father wore on his wedding. Also the sunset was wonderful, bright orange, pink, red and purple colors in the sky. Yes, a perfect day to say 'I love you'.

I received some colorful mail this week! Birds and fruits. Hanna drew some fruits and vegetables for me and asked me what kind of things we eat around here, so I drew some for her too. Because we import lots of different food there wasn't that much of a difference between the greens in Japan and Holland :). I loved to draw with watercolor again, it's really nice!

This weekend Pien's bicycle seat arrived so we went out for a quick ride. But this sunday we rode to the beautiful Vijverschie where we got married (almost 2 years ago). There was a girl singing pretty songs, people sitting in the grass enjoying their drinks and cakes and lots of fun and beautiful flowers. We had such a great time and on our way back we rode along this beautiful waterside showing above. On the picture with the sheep you can see a partial skyline of Rotterdam. 

bbq time in our garden!

On this warm day we invited our friends, Aram and Eline, over for a bbq in our garden. We spent all morning in the kitchen preparing everything, with our little chef (Pien) crawling around with a spoon in her hands. It was a perfect sunny day with lots of laughs, good food, home made lemonade and some steamed fishes!

the dunes of Oostvoorne

 

Some sunshine, 20 degrees, a bit of nature and some memories. We started a walk in the dunes of Oostvoorne in the early afternoon. We came across some beautiful landscapes, trees and fields. The tree in the third photo is the one I used to climb when I was a child, it is a perfect climbing tree with all those wide branches :). We were surprised to find trees in bright red colors, it looked like autumn. It was quite warm during our walk and unfortunately we got a bit lost! We walked about 10 km to the other village haha! It was a nice adventure though :D.

visiting Brielle

We've visited my father and grandfather today. We sat in the beautiful green garden enjoying the sun and in the afternoon we went out for a walk in the centre. There was a remembrance of all the people who died during WW II and there was a 'play' of American soldiers in uniforms. This all must be weird to see for the people that actually experienced WW II.. like my grandfather. In a synagogue we saw some photo's of a Jewish girl named Kitty that lived in Brielle but who was, unfortunately, transported to Auschwitz. My grandfather pointed at her and told me a story about her. He knew her as a child. "Such pretty girls", he said. How sad.
