It is Queensday today but we chose to ride away from the city. We rode along the Rotte and sat down on a pier for a picnic!It was such a beautiful and warm spring day!

a message from Finland

A sweet card from Elina! What a nice stamp and postcard. I'd send her a book for her birthday last weekend, I'm glad she likes it :)

location lovebirds

What started as another rainy day turned out to be a beautiful day! We went back to the new location for our wedding this summer (the 2 first photo's). Everything is growing green already, so nice! We can't wait! On our way home we went for a drink in the historic part of Rotterdam: Delfshaven.

a morning in the rain

A rainy day, a rainy morning. We went back to the 'Hofbogen' and sat down for a delicious cup of chai soy latte at Lokaal joined by a slice of banana bread with maple syrop. In a few minutes the Bowerbirds (a band) will start playing in Bird. The picture of the kitchen with the piano is at Bird though :)

momo's first day

This is the first day of the arts festival Motel Mozaïque in Rotterdam. We went to see a performance by Wunderbaum on the top of the 'Hofbogen', what a great view! Down in Bird it was pretty crowded but also nice bands! This weekend there is also a route through the city centre called 'Zigzagcity'. It takes you to the most isolated spots in the centre where you normally pass on by. The most beautiful part of the route was the little greenhouse at the 'Lijnbaan'. There were drinks, nice people, a performance and a tiny concert of Afka (click this link for the video)which was amazing! Finally we went inside this big white balloon.. really weird! A great way to start the weekend.

a message from Amsterdam

Sweet Janneke has send me this nice postcard 'made by a friend of a friend, the world is a small place' she says. It has been a long time since we've met, I must visit her soon!!

the docks and deli bird

The docks are beautiful in this type of weather. There is rain, hail, lightning and lots of wind but the docks seem solid enough. We ate at Deli Bird which is a Thai restaurant at Rotterdam Katendrecht. It was great! Afterwards we went to a concert of Jono Maccleery and Lucas Santtana, beautiful.

growing green

Between rain, hail, wind and sunshine the trees unfold their perfect little green hands to catch the sun. The change from brown or bold to green is really nice! Everyday there are more colours in our garden.

When I was on my way out I found this beautiful letter on our doormat. What a nice surprise, all the way from Finland to Rotterdam :) Thank you Elina!

a message from St. Petersburg

Today I received a message from St. Petersburg, Russia. Dasha writes me about the spring, the ships in the harbour and the city. I like the postcard with the tram on it.

Yes this is New York but not a miniature. The miniature effect is caused by a combination of more than 35 000 pictures Sam O'Hare took. A lovely big small apple!

romantic letter writing

This book was on my to-get-list for a while now and now it finally has arrived. It is a funny, sweet and nice book about letters, antique books and conversations. I'll save this for the summer!

chores

When I came home this weekend from work M. was painting the window frames in our bedroom. One of those chores that needed to be done :) Now we have smooth, white window frames again!

This is the book, Good Luck by Erik Kessels. It's beautiful. Also those small pictures between the pages.

old stamps and Good Luck

Today I received this package, I ordered a lovely book of Erik Kessels for Eline's birthday. The book is called Good Luck and Kessels uses old pictures he once found or bought, anyway he doesn't know the portraited. He made up a whole story around those pictures. I hope Eline likes the pictures and the book. I'll post some pictures of the book tomorrow.
